QHP-0003: He Never Married

Two well-dressed Englishmen posed with a restrained, almost reverent closeness.

Photograph, 1907.

This sepia-toned cabinet card was discovered beneath a floorboard of Room 3 at Loxley Boarding House during renovations in 1972. The photograph, dated by its paper stock and studio stamp to around 1907, shows two well-dressed Englishmen posed with a restrained, almost reverent closeness. No names are written on the back. It’s unclear who placed it there, but something in their gaze suggests that even then, they knew to keep it close, but out of sight.
